CHAYA Downtown Sake Festival
Sake lovers won’t want to miss out on this fest where nine regional boutique sake producers from Japan will be pouring 25 sake from the likes of Ippongi and Yamagata Hoten. Enjoy Izakaya fare by Chaya Executive Chef de Cuisine Atsushi Kenjo and you know there will be live Taiko drummers performing on the hour.

Sustainable Kitchen 3.0 With Eva Restaurant’s Mark Gold at Surfas
Eva Restaurant’s Mark Gold and Kim Thompson, program manager of Seafood For The Future at the Aquarium of the Pacific, take over the Test Kitchen at Surfas to school you on sustainable seafood in a delicious way. Chef Gold will prep mussels from Carlsbad Aqua Farms and local, fresh catch of the day from Steve Escobar of the Dory Fleet in Newport Beach which guests will get to sample! Show up early to snag a seat as space is limited.

Yes, Downtown will be a clusterfuck thanks to all those sports games going on back to back. But you won’t let a little traffic keep you from this celebration of booze and pirates, right? Sponsors include Maui Brewing Company, Hobgoblin Beer from the UK and, thankfully, ONE Coconut Water for hydration. There will be actual pirates…from Caribbean Pirates for Hire as well as live performances from Adam’s Attic and Dirty Little Secrets. Proceeds will go to the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
